People With Disabilities Let Talents Shine in Easter Program

They are used to the pointing and the stares, but not the smiles and the applause. And most of the people at Inspiring Body of Christ Church in Dallas were not used to seeing an Easter program like the one they saw Sunday morning.

"They're all God's children," said Sandria Samms. "I just think this is a wonderful thing that they have done today!"

Instead of the traditional passion play, poems, or songs; children and young adults with special needs in the congregation shared the talents people often overlook because of their disabilities. One of them was four-year-old Alana. She has scoliosis, just one kidney, and is at the developmental level of a two-year-old, but she has personality and pipes. When given a chance to belt out a tune, she chose the favorite of just about every kid her age, "Let It Go" from the Disney movie "Frozen".
