Autistic Girl Kicked Off Flight: 'As a Mom it Ripped My Heart Out': What Are Your Thoughts?

Portland, Ore. -- When you watch 15-year-old Juliet swing around her living room, it is hard to believe she was responsible for grounding a commercial airline. Her mom cannot believe it.

"Just not right," said Donna Beegle.

Beegle says she, her husband, her son, and Juliet were flying home from Disney World when they ran into a problem. It started during a layover in Houston.

"Juliet didn't really eat," said Beegle.

Juliet was diagnosed with autism at the young age of three. It is a big deal when Juliet does not eat, her mom says.

On the flight from Houston to Portland, Donna asked a United flight attendant if Juliet could have something hot to eat. She says the flight attendant told her only first class passengers get hot food. Donna told the flight attendant her daughter would probably have a meltdown. And she did.

"She lashes out and scratches," said Chuck Forbes, Juliet's dad.

One of the flight attendants eventually brought Juliet some hot food. Beegle offered to pay and thought that would be the end of it.
