BRIDGE CITY - It's been a very special Mother's Day for a
Bridge City mom who had the joy of watching her special needs son crowned prom
king.
Bridge City High School juniors and seniors voted special
needs student Jon Oliphint prom king. His mom Jamie Oliphint said when his name
was announced the room erupted in cheers.
Jon was surprised, his mother was touched.
"I think it says a lot about him and a lot about the
students," Jamie Oliphint said.
Jon has a rare metabolic disorder that caused brain damage
before he was diagnosed at age three. Despite his disabilities, he happily
accepted the honor.
